Thank you to all our Samaritans friends and supporters

Last year the Samaritans celebrated 50 years of service to the Wellington community.

Now more than ever we are seeing a real need in the community for that same Samaritans service—to be there for people who feel “weighed down” with life’s struggles.

We have all heard the media reports about people waiting for 8 weeks or more to be seen by mental health professionals in New Zealand.  That is a long time to wait for help for anybody who is in real mental or emotional distress!

That’s why it is so important that Samaritans is available 24/7 for those callers that make the decision to reach out for our help.  Last year our volunteers took over 30,000 calls from people who felt like they had no one else to talk to.

We rely so heavily on our volunteers and supporters to keep us operating and we are very conscious that we do ask a lot.  We are in constant need of volunteers and donations to keep our service running 24/7.

My heartfelt  thanks to you all for your support.  It means so much to the Board and staff and most importantly to our callers and their families.

Have a safe and happy Christmas season.
